Harris County, Texas – August 6th, 2017: At approximately 11:30 PM on Saturday, the Ponderosa Fire Department was dispatched to 2005 FM 1960 road in reference to a commercial building on fire. Fire crews arrived on the scene to find heavy fire and smoke conditions from a vacant Black-Eyed Pea restaurant.

Fire officials deemed the building was structurally unsafe and had all firefighters battle the blaze from outside of the structure. About an hour into the fire while firefighters were outside of the structure, the structure started to give in and began to collapse.

There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters. The fire is under investigation by the Harris County Fire Marshalls Office.

Ponderosa Fire Department was assisted by Spring, Klein, Little York, Champions and the Cypress Creek Fire Departments.
