Spring, Texas – July 6th, 2017: Just before rush hour, Montgomery County Precinct 3 Commissioner James Noack’s office received reports of a possible sinkhole on Rayford Road near Wild Rose Drive.

“I was alerted, by a quick-thinking resident, just after 5 PM of a possible sinkhole on Rayford. I dispatched my crews to inspect and set up traffic control” – Montgomery County Precinct 3 Commissioner James Noack

Noack states that the sinkhole is roughly 5 feet long by 2 1/2 feet wide and eight inches deep.

As of Thursday evening, a metal plate has been placed over the sinkhole and (1) eastbound lane has been closed.

Early indications are that a drain pipe located under the pavement either collapsed or otherwise separated leading to the erosion of the pavement foundation. Further investigations will yield details about the cause.

“I have spoken to an engineer and tomorrow we will identify the problem and repair it. Thanks to law enforcement for their assistance with traffic control and special thanks to a quick thinking citizen for calling and alerting me of the issue. Due to these actions, we have no reported damages or injuries.” – Montgomery County Precinct 3 Commissioner James Noack

Thank you, Commissioner Noack, for reacting quickly to this situation. Your hard work and dedication to Montgomery County does not go unnoticed!
