Burglary Suspect Driving Stolen Van Attempts To Run Over Deputy In Spring
Spring, Texas – April 5th, 2017: On Tuesday morning, Constable Mark Herman’s Office was dispatched to an alarm at the Sunbelt Rentals business located in the 23500 block of the North Freeway. Upon arriving, a deputy discovered a blue van parked next to a cut in the chain link fence that surrounds the business. As the deputy investigated and began searching the vehicle for occupants, Robert Davis, the defendant, appeared from around the corner. The Deputy Constable ordered Davis to raise his hands, and Davis jumped in the driver’s seat, placed the vehicle in drive and began to accelerate toward the deputy. The deputy discharged his firearm and began to pursue Davis who continued to flee.
Constable Deputies pursued Davis southbound on the North Freeway, and a flat front tire, disabling the vehicle. Davis then fled on foot and was captured in the 16500 block of the North Freeway. During the investigation, it was discovered that the van driven by Davis was stolen. Several stolen items located inside of the van were returned to Sunbelt Rentals, and the investigation of other recovered items believed to be stolen will continue.
“Robert Davis was found to have three outstanding warrants for his arrest for Burglary of a Building, Evading in a Motor Vehicle, and Criminal Mischief. Davis was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Aggravated Assault of a Public Servant, Evading Arrest/Detention with a Motor Vehicle, and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. He received No bond on all three charges out of the 179th District Court.” – Precinct Four Constable, Mark Herman
